Her credentials include a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Laurentian University, Honours English Specialist qualifications from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and a Life Skills Coaching Certificate from Cambrian College. She is a Nipissing University certified Adult Educator and has taught creative writing for Fraser Valley College, Cambrian College, the Manitoulin Writers' Retreat and Rainbow Board secondary schools.
Although born and raised on Manitoulin Island, Margo Little has travelled and worked in Rhode Island, California, British Columbia and Northern Ontario. She is a founding member of the Native Communications Society in Vancouver, the Sudbury Writers' Guild and the Manitoulin Community Legal Clinic. In addition, she has been a volunteer with many community projects including the Manitoulin Addictions Awareness Committee, the Manitoulin Social Services Advisory Committee, the John Howard Prison Arts Committee and the Elizabeth Fry Unhooked Committee in Sudbury.
As a journalist she has served as Communications Officer for the British Columbia Association of Friendship Centres, and as News Editor for the Agassiz Advance and the Manitoulin Recorder. As a teacher she has taught a variety of subjects at the N'Swakamok Native Alternative School, the Sudbury Jail School Program and Sudbury Youth Services School Program. She has also gained valuable experience working in youth prevention and health promotion.
Ms. Little is a veteran of the self-help/recovery movement in British Columbia and Ontario. She has published numerous articles on addiction issues including a Masters thesis exploring the history of Aboriginal gaming.
